Cheddar rebellion: told you it wasn't the beginning of the end!

Update to the earlier entry. I am no longer hungover (whew, and considering it's eight in the evening, good thing! XD), I've started sorting out some insurance-related RL (nothing scary, just something that needed doing), and we have a new Supreme Court justice in Wisconsin.

I know, I know, that's not official yet, and I know a recount is coming, but eeeeee! We *did* it! 200-something votes. 200. I am *floored*. If ever I thought a single vote didn't count for much - and I admit I've thought that in the past, generally when the electoral college is involved - I've been proven wrong today. Justice Joanne Kloppenburg has one nice ring to it, I have to say. Yes, I know, not official yet. But holy *cow*.

Score one for reason, for clear professionalism, for soft-spoken decency, for keeping partisan politics the heck out of the judicial branch of state government. And score one for Wisconsin, because we totally have.

I said this on twitter earlier, and I'll say it in a slightly more wordy fashion here. In six weeks, we turned a no-contest spring election race into a dead heat barn-burner with a turnout on the order of a million and a half. In *April*. Give us six months' notice next time, and I can easily imagine we'll take back Wisconsin.

And heck, we're already doing that. :D

Totally, completely, and shamelessly off topic, many, many *hugs* to [livejournal.com profile] newredshoes. And a few more. *hugs* Not sure if the prayers of a massively lapsed Lutheran will help much, but I'll give it a go.
